Joyce Bell (Wilson) Butler was born in Mobile, Alabama on August 3,1934. In 1953, she married Erston Butler, and she came to Twentynine Palms as a young bride to settle into the community she loved. She raised five children of her own and influenced countless others. Joyce was a devout Catholic woman, whose faith was evident by her actions. She was actively involved with numerous ministries such as the Altar Society, and the Religious Education program. She also served as the co-founder of the Bereavement Committee at Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was ever-present at her children's school events. Joyce was an avid cheerleader of multiple sports for all Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats. She volunteered in the community serving several organizations: Hi-Desert Medical Center, Hospice of Morongo Basin, as well as Parks and Recreation. When she was not volunteering, Joyce was known to be creative with ceramics, crotchet and was happiest working in her yard. She also enjoyed bus trips to Laughlin, NV., where her lively spirit was enjoyed by many.

Joyce is survived by her children Roy Butler, David Butler, Constance Butler; grandchildren Angela Butler, Jonathan Butler; sister Juanita Wilson, brothers Nathaniel Wilson and Robert Wilson; sisters-in-law Annie Belle Carter and Regina (Robert) Harris, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
